I do find that there is a tendancy to share negative "shocking" stories (or fluffy cat and puppy stuff!) more than positive news and this must surely have an impact on all industries - including pharma.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550428.post-89684936542124647602012-02-14T11:20:03.760-05:002012-02-14T11:20:03.760-05:00Really Nice post..Really Nice post..Pharma Exhibitionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06735456398977526690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550428.post-10570304328497317882012-02-11T23:39:58.160-05:002012-02-11T23:39:58.160-05:00Good post, John… and I glad you wrote on this as I...Good post, John… and I glad you wrote on this as I missed Rich’s original post. To be sure, the media environment for pharma companies is complex. However, I think we have to be careful not to project the attitudes of some members of the media on all members of the media. There is huge variation in the reporting of pharma news between media outlets and, many times, among individual reporters within the same outlet. Also, I don’t necessarily agree with the idea that PhRMA and member companies spoon-feed information to these outlets, who in turn spoon-feed it to their readers/viewers. For those who deal with media daily, they know it isn’t quite that simple, in fact it is quite complicated. That said, I think this is a great topic for discussion because, at the end of the day, this variability in reporting by the media contributes to the general confusion and frustration that exists around key issues in our industry.Michael Parkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03277391008075131583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550428.post-77732225062115821552012-02-10T10:45:58.762-05:002012-02-10T10:45:58.762-05:00John: Great post. As you know I have always felt that when the pharma industry screws up they should be held accountable however there are a lot of people who are living longer healthier lives thanks to the pills they take instead of changing their lifestyles. To gain back pubic trust pharma has to be more transparent and it has to have employees who are willing to stand up for patients but also remember that with transparency comes the lawyers who are ready to sue at a moments notice to make money for themselvesRich Meyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10554496300493319658noreply@blogger.com
