I am a rep myself, in a low income area, and although I do find the budgets are somewhat over the top, many of the physicians are starting to "play the game". Upwards of 50% of my target customers only allow a face to face conversation (detail) at a lunch gathering. Many of the physicians work for large group practices, and they are either limited directly by the company they work for as to how many reps they can see, or the company simply allows no reps at all. So yes, the budgets are over the top, I feel they could be used more wisely to lower the cost of medications, but it is a necessary evil required to do my job.
